Freeform Crochet

ARTIST STATEMENT

My textile sculptures embrace the spontaneity and organic flow of freeform crochet, transforming yarn into vibrant, three-dimensional forms. Each non-wearable piece emerges intuitively, shaped by the interplay of color, texture, and rhythm, emerging as a creative release. By blending diverse motifs—spirals, circles, waves, and abstract shapes—I create intricate, tactile landscapes that invite exploration and evoke both natural and imaginative worlds.

Inspired by biological forms, oceanic textures, and intricate ecosystems, my works invite the viewer to see crochet beyond tradition, celebrating its potential for dynamic, contemporary expression. The unplanned composition reflects the free-flowing, spontaneous nature of my artistic process and the complexities of neurodiversity. The sculptural quality of these pieces challenges boundaries between craft and fine art, highlighting the complexity and endless possibilities inherent in fibre as a medium.

Through rich color palettes ranging from earthy neutrals to vivid reds and lush greens, I strive to capture a sensory, almost synesthetic experience. Each sculpture becomes a narrative of discovery, individuality, and play, emphasizing the joy and curiosity inherent in artistic creation.
